Things I Wonder (1 of many)

I wonder who was the first person to say "Hello" and when. If anyone actually knows the origin of "Hello" please fill me in, either by emailing me or leaving a comment on this post. I also, wonder who decided to shorten "Hello" to "Hi" and "Hey". How did people even greet each other before "hello" was introduced; did people just say "greetings" or "how do you do". I would like to see some sort of graphical display (animation) of the spread of the use of words like "hello", "hi", "lol", "sup", etc...
