2887 Generations of Seeleys.

I downloaded the latest South Park episode as a .rar archive. I then unzipped it and was astonished to the estimation of how long it would take to "unzip": 2023406814 Hours = 84308617.25 Days = 230982.5130137 Years = 2887.2814126712 Life Times (assuming 80yrs to a lifetime) => My computer had estimated that the south park episode would be finished unzipping my file after 2887 Generations of Seeleys have passed.

Fun/Tense/Addicting Game.

THE GAME:Gravity. THE PREMISE: "Fire an atom amongst gravity sources. To advance a level, the atom must survive the given time without collisions." I will be posting my current highscores. You are welcome to post yours in the comments. You must, however, make an account with Homokaasu to have your highscores logged and to see your rank within the website. Good Luck.

My Prize

I went to a EA Conference at my School on Thursday. At the end of the conference (after seeing the same Madden 06' pre-rendered video from E3 over and over) they began asking skill-testing questions for EA prizes: games. At the end, they only had 1 game left: Fifa Soccer 2005 (GCN). Before one of the EA representatives asked the question, she asked who in the audience had a gamecube; about 5 out of the 50 GUYS (might have been a girl here...I don't recall seeing one though) raised their hand; every guy either had an XBOX or a PC (some had a PS2 as well). She then asked the question "What is the top-selling game of all time?". Instantly my hand rose; "SIMS!". I won Fifa 2005 for the gamecube. It's going on eBay ASAP. They also dumped a whole bunch of EA decks of cards: regular cards with "EA It's in the Game!" written on them. I took a pack. I will never use it.

I Won A legs Contest When I Was 10

It was a Father-Son LEGO Contest held at the local Zellers (this is when I lived in North Vancouver). I actually came in second place; second place to a kid (my younger brother's friend) whose Dad did EVERYTHING. So I tell everyone I came in first...and then I tell them I came in second place. But this isn't why I'm posting; it's related. I loved LEGO when I was a kid. I love APPLE now (when I'm 18). PODBRIX is what you get when you combine both LEGO and APPLE. I've been following this guy's creations since he first began and he's come quite a long way. You can buy a Steve Jobs Keynote podbrix set which includes Jobs holding an iPod and a Shuffle, complete with a miniature stage. You can also get a Black Silhouette iPod commercial podbrix man complete with green backdrop. There's two more characters, but I'm not about to give away ALL his creations when I've provided a link above.

Apple Rip-Offs

Found this awesome little site that showcases rip-offs of Apple products. I think a lot of the iPod "rip-offs" aren't really rip-offs. Sure they have the same sort of shape with SCREEN on top and CONTROLS on bottom, but none of those MP3 players have a click wheel or <= 5 buttons. Actually this site is very unfair with the choosing of iPod rip-offs...except the ones I have shown on this post; they are BLATANT rip-offs. Seriously, the only real reason one could accuse Creative of ripping of the iPod with their Zen Micro's is that the micros come in multiple colours ("colors" if you are outside the british empire) and similar storage capacities as the iPod Minis; that is not "ripping off".

Apple In Trouble

Check out how close the new iPod commercial is to this Lugz commercial. Lugz might take action.

Hell Yes.

Someone bought my PSP at the BUY NOW price of $350. The first time I was trying to sell it, it only got to $302 (my reserve price was $380) so it never sold. Now I can really afford the 5th Generation iPod (white, 30GB) I just ordered two days ago. I'm actually so excited about it being sold at the BUY NOW price that I'm throwing in a bonus PSP-TO-COMPUTER USB adapter for the fellow who bought it.

Coming Up: World Usability Day (NOV 3)

Ever heard of the Usability Professionals' Association (UPA)? I hadn't until today. Turns out they have created their own DAY: World Usability Day, which takes place every year on November 3. The DAY is supposed to "promote awareness of the benefits of usability engineering and user-centered design, Earth Day style" (UPA Homepage). There will be a Canadian World Usability Day event held in Ottawa called the "e-Gov Showcase" which will "[bring] together government, industry and usability professionals to share their experiences of designing applications and services to meet user needs."

Tatooine Exists.

I don't like paraphrasing... "A new planet with three suns in its sky has been found 149 light-years from Earth. Its type is named Tatooine after the dual-sunned planet in the film Star Wars." - melia18 (posted on digg.com) The link to this news article is broken, so if you are ambitious, you can try to find it on CNN.com where it is supposed to have originated. I tried.

MUFF.

There is a company called Muff that make cases for portable apple products (ie. iPods, Powerbooks, and iBooks). They just released their new line of iPod cases called MightyMuffs which are tougher versions of their other iPod cases, the podMuffs. We all know the reason I blogged this.

Amber's Webpick

I just watched the 19th episode of commandN and Amber's webpick was the inCase website! In case (PUN INTENDED) you were never privelaged with reading my "Amber MacArthur Likes Incase iPod Cases" post; I stumbled upon the website for incase, a company who sells cases for apple portables, and decided to email Amber of the commandN vidcast (video podcast) who ends each vidcast with her webpick of the week.

A Vending Machine

A vending machine was spotted at the Atlanta Airport, carrying iPod Minis and iPod Shuffles...Looks like you can also get video games in it too. Considering the fact that you can't download songs from the machine as well, most people who buy iPod's from this machine must have the intent as giving them away as some sort of present; they could also sold as impusle buys too.

Guess The Metaphor!

Straylight Run have made a music video for their new single (I'm guessing), "Hands in the Sky (Big Shot)" off their new EP, "Prepare To Be Wrong".

Totally Tits Science Pics!

Here's a bunch of photographics that have won awards at this year's "The Novartis & The Daily Telegraph's Visions of Science: Photographic Awards". I have posted my favourite photograph, which won the "Medicine and Life" award.

Simon Frankson And The Weeping Ithorian

Check out Simon Frankson's Blog, "The Weeping Ithorian". For those of you who don't know what an Ithorian is, the Ithorians are an alien species from the Star Wars universe. Ithorians, commonly called "Hammerheads", are the peace-loving herbivores citizens of the planet Ithor. Their planet was unfortunately devastated during the Yuuzhan Vong crisis, leaving the Ithorians to spend the rest of their existence traveling the universe in the comfort of their floating herd cities. I'm guessing this is why Simons's blog is entitled the WEEPING Ithorian; I have never asked him of the origin of his name, so don't take my word for it.

70 Free iTunes Songs

You can download 70 FREE SONGS from iTunes, all of which are performed by Stanford students and faculty. I didn't listen to that many of them (or download any of them for that matter), but especially liked "Couldn't Resist" by The Spins.

Saved By Stem Cells

Singer of Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin (I'm listening to them now), Andrew MacMahon, was diagnosed with acute lymphatic leukemia last May. In August he received a stem cell transplant from his sister and is now cancer-free and on his way to recovery. If you haven't already, pick up the debut album from Jack's Mannequin, Everything In Transit. FULL STORY

Amber MacArthur Likes Incase iPod Cases

While cruising my various iPod/Mac forums, I stumbled upon the name of a company that makes iPod cases: incase (very clever name). I decided to check them out at their website and fell in love with the sites wonderful design and aesthetics. It was then that I recalled how Amber MacArthur and Mike Lazazzera of the CommandN vidCast (video podcast) end each show with their web picks; web picks that are sometimes sent to them by fans of the show. I then decided to email Amber the link to the incase website. TWO HOURS later she replied. I will report back if this site is ever mentioned on any of her (and Mike's) future vidCasts.

Denied Another Co-op Job

Yet again, I find myself without an interview for another Co-op job; my cover letter was probably lacking. I really think I nailed my cover letter for the two other jobs I applied for; they close tomorrow. Lets hope I get one of those jobs; I want a break from school. This is my 4th semester in a row; I took 5 classes the first semester, 5 classes the second semester, 4 classes the third (summer) semester, and am taking 3 classes now. If I get one of the other two jobs I applied for, I will be a Help Desk Analyst at my university: The University of Victoria.

Google Tip (2 of many)

Google is a package tracker (kind of). You can enter the tracking number for your UPS or FedEX tracking number (I have not bothered checking any other couriers) into Google and it will offer a link (at the top of the search results page) to your packages progress.

The Dilemma

I have sent my broken nano to apple and am now awaiting the arrival of a brand new one. I am still not sure if I want to upgrade to the 30GB or 60GB iPod. Watching my vidCasts (Command-N and Diggnation) and TV Shows (The Office [UK], Home Movies, Family Guy, South Park, Seinfield, etc) while on the bus or working out is very enticing. I also like the idea of backing up ALL of my music (I have about 15GB) and some video files (that are already backed up on DVD). The battery life for video playback is fairly pitiful though; the 30GB gets about 2-3hrs and the 60GB gets about 3-4hrs. If my PSP doesn't sell on EBay, then I defiantly won't be buying a new iPod, but if it sells, I will have a dilemma on my hands, the kind of dilemma that only a well-off white boy in a first world country faces.

The EX looks terrible in direct sunlight.

My girlfriend, KAYLEE SAGER, posted what she found written on a piece of paper she found on the streets of Toronto...very hilarious and awkward: CHECK IT OUT

The Set Is Truth

I used to be the drummer for the-band-everyone-made-fun-of, Almost Jackson (my parents almost named me Jackson). Our guitarist and talent was Jory MacKay who has since joined a superior band, The Set. They just released a CD that I am trying to get my hands on; CHECK THEM OUT.

Apple Computer Macintosh iPod Slim New Thin Watch ROS

Just won an Apple watch on Ebay! I'll take pictures of it on my wrist upon its arrival.

A Boy Named Luke

When I was shopping for domain names I obviously tried lukeseeley.com. It turned out that someone was using lukeseeley.com to redirect people to his blog on aboynamedluke.com, which he has been using to blog his sons life since birth (lukeseeley.com used to just be a video of luke's first steps). If you are wondering what that picture is, it's the reason why I couldn't buy lukeseeley.com...

My Short Stint As A Writer

I used to write game articles for these two struggling game sites. I stopped because there was simply no motivation to keep writing as I wasn't getting payed and my "boss"'s never gave me anything to do; I would just suggest writing reviews/previews/news and they'd simply agree. I'm actually still a "Senior Editor" on TooCubed.com according to the Staff page. TOOCUBED.COM: - Gotcha Force [PREVIEW] - Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure [PREVIEW] - Resident Evil 4 [PREVIEW] - Bomberman Jetters [REVIEW] - Sonic Heroes [REVIEW] - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles [REVIEW] - I also wrote a preview for Killer 7 that has since been replaced with another review. - I wrote a number of news articles as well that I do not want to dig up. ACCESSGAMER.COM: - DS vs PSP Featurette (it's still top story after almost a year) - I wrote a number of news articles but don't feel like searching for them.

First 5G iPod Review

iLounge has delivered us the first review for Apple's new 5th generation iPod (announced on wednesday) and has provided many pictures as well: CHECK IT OUT I had heard before that the new iPod did not support skip forward/backward during movie playback, but it looks like it actually does.

New iPod Commercial

Though Apple has curiously removed the ad from its website, it is still available HERE The song is "Lose Yourself" by Eminem. Enjoy.

Jack's Hidden Web Page

If you are a fan of Jack's Mannequin (or Something Corporate for that matter) you may enjoy this: - go to the jack's Mannequin website - (when you're on the main page) find a hidden link above the three girls OR on the red building - a little box will appear that will load the hidden page ...enjoy.

Microsoft's New Technology

Wow. This video is just WOW. I thought the TactaPad was awsome, but this "creation" completely surpasses the TactaPad.

Broke Another Pair of Apple Ear Buds

I am getting pretty tired of these crummy "mug-me" white earbuds apple keeps packaging with their iPods. Though I am a fan of the new perl-white-electronics fad (Ceramic PSP, XBOX 360, PS3, Nintendo Revolution, Dells new laptops, etc) and do feel somewhat cool when I use them, they just keep breaking; and keep breaking in the same way: When I'm not listening to music I either wrap up my iPod in the earbuds and stuff it in a pocket or wrap the earbuds around my neck; it's when I wrap them around my neck that I break them. What happens is I suddenly move and the earbuds swing off my neck and hit either a desk or the ground or something. Then I will continue listening to my iPod with them and will notice that one of the earbuds is a lot quieter than the other and occasionally buzzes. So today I broke another pair of earbuds and have added them to THE PILE; I now own 3 pairs of broken apple earbuds.

Fith Generation iPods Are Here (iTunes 6 Released)

Apple just announced (and released online) the new 5th generation iPods. They come in either black or white (ala nano) and in either a 30GB or 60GB version. They are smaller than the 4th generation iPods and can now play video files (music videos, tv episodes, shorts, vidCasts, etc). Witness the evolution of the revolution. First it played songs. Then photos. Then podcasts. Now iPod plays video, changing the way you experience your music and more. Again. In lighter, thinner 30GB and 60GB models starting at $299, the new iPod is music to your eyes. iTunes 6 was released as well(so much for iTunes 5...), but is not available through Software Update yet (for all you Mac owners) so you must download it from the website; if you don't know where that is, type "itunes" into any browser and it will take you there. OH...and new iMacs with built in (and better) iSights (webcams), remotes, and new media-control program (think Windows Media Center)

A Screen Half Empty

Yesterday I was horrified to find that the bottom half of my 4GB White iPod Nano's screen was consistantly white and that the text/graphics from the top half of the screen would bleed down the bottom/white half. Apple's tech support was closed so today I phoned; they are sending me a box to send my nano back to them with; they are going to send me a brand new 4GB White iPod Nano. It was fast and easy. ONE PROBLEM: Tomarrow Apple may announce another iPod worthy of replacing my Nano. I hope I would be able to cancel my new nano and just get a refund to put towards the possible new iPod.

Adam Brody Plays The Drums

Adam Brody (aka. Seth Cohen) is the drummer for a band called Big Japan. You can here them HERE. Naturally Brody is in an "Indie/Rock/Emo" (according to the band's profile) band. I cannot tell from these songs if Brody is a good drummer or not; his band seems to play very modestly and his beats/fills are not advanced at all. But I can safely say that he is probably still a NOVICE. I'm definately not much of a fan of this band yet. I AM a fan of Panic! At The Disco however...

Java Based 3D Operating System

Check THIS out. I thought using Mac OS X was fun...

Excalibar

I was rewatching episode 201 of The Office (UK); it ended with a somewhat-drunk David Brent reading Dawne a poem he had written called Excalibar: I froze your tears and made a dagger And stabbed it in my cock forever. It stays there like excaliber. Are you my arthur? Say you are. Take this cold dark steeled blade; Steel it, sheeth it, In your lake. I drown with you to be together. Must you breathe? Cuz I need heaven.

The first post...

This is my first post. I have basically created this blog so I can add another link to the navigation bar of my functionless website, lukeES.com...
