Making Holes.

Ever wonder where you would end up if you started digging a whole right now, straight down through the earth and came out on the other side? Now you can find out.

A Terribly Annoying Song.

I stumbled accross this womens site yesterday that is dedicated to the song she created entitled, "I Love My Mac". During the song she says that her favourite Mac App is Garage Band, so I'm guessing she used it to create this song. It is cute that she went through all this trouble to create this song, but I just find her voice so completely annoying. OMFG. It appears she has even created a music video, which allows you to see thousands of pictures of Mac products while listening to her song...she probably used iMovie. Also, judging the site's theme, she must have used Rapid Weaver. The worst part of all of this is the international versions, which appear to feature guest vocalists! All in all, it is cool that she went through all this trouble to create this song+video+site; it's just a shame the song is so terribly annoying.

Things I Wonder (1 of many)

I wonder who was the first person to say "Hello" and when. If anyone actually knows the origin of "Hello" please fill me in, either by emailing me or leaving a comment on this post. I also, wonder who decided to shorten "Hello" to "Hi" and "Hey". How did people even greet each other before "hello" was introduced; did people just say "greetings" or "how do you do". I would like to see some sort of graphical display (animation) of the spread of the use of words like "hello", "hi", "lol", "sup", etc...

My Fat Dog.

That is my brother on the left, Eddy Muka (family friend) in the middle, and me on the right. My chubby female australian cattle dog (blue healer) is the one wearing the hat.

BUFFERING.

Found this image somewhere; can't remember where. Thought it was funny...enjoy. Basically, it's making fun of Real Player and all the buffering it must do when streaming media over THE CLOUD. I, for one, don't come accross many .rm files (Real Media) so cannot agree or disagree with Real Player and all its apparent buffering. For those of you who don't really know what buffering is, I asked google to define it for me; here are a few of my results:
  • A process that stores data in memory for a set period of time before transmitting it to the recipient.
  • Describes a situation which occurs when a streaming media player is saving portions of a streaming media file to local storage for playback. Most streaming media players buffer a small percentage of a streaming media presentation before beginning to play it. Buffering also may occur in the middle of a presentation, when available bandwidth does not match the presentation's required bandwidth.
  • The ability of a substance to reduce shock and cushion against pH fluctuations.

    Check Out My Site Stats.

Thanks to Google's recent aquisition of some site analyst company (I forget what they were called), I can monitor my site's traffic in the form of Easy-2-understand graphs and charts. See above.

    Jim Has A Powerbook.

Jim, the character in The Office (US) who plays the part Tim did in the original "The Office" uses a Powerbook. If you pay attention (not that you aren't), most characters in most Prime Time TV shows use Macs. For instance, the annoying kid in Surface uses an iMac, and Carrie from Sex in the City used a Powerbook G3 (that was a more obvious example). I'm sure we would have seen at least two characters from Lost use Macs if they hand't crashed on the island. Great show. If you follow the show, you should check out the podcast, you get to hear interviews with the cast and two of the writers talk about the show. Obviously they don't explain any of the mysteries, but it's still interesting. Gregory House was seen using a DS a few times last (first) season. Last episode, House was seen playing a PSP. Wonder what happened there...

    Optical Illusions.

I came accross this SITE that has compiled many fun optical illusions. As I did, you will probably recognize a lot of these. One of my favourites is this: "In this test DO NOT READ the words, say aloud the COLOR of each word."

    YELLOW BLUE ORANGE
    BLACK RED GREEN
    PURPLE YELLOW RED
    ORANGE GREEN BLACK
    BLUE RED PURPLE

    Google Tip (3 of many)

Google is a unit converter. You can pretty much convert any units you can think of (except currency, I think). As you can see from the screenshot, I was able to convert 23 centimeters into feet by simply typing that, "23 centimeters in feet". 1.88800 US gallons = 7 146.85748 millilitres

    Ten Windows.

This is the first of a sequence of blogs (like my google tips) where I will compare nuances of Mac OSX and Windows XP. The title is lame, I know (the Mac OS "Ten" and Microsoft "Windows"); I didn't want use "VS". Windows > Mac OSX In Windows, if you want to open a file/executable/folder (all of which are technically files) you simply have to have the particular file highlighted and press ENTER. Very simple. Easy to remember. Easy to understand. In Mac OSX, if you want to do the same thing, you have to highlight the particular file and press COMMAND-O (the COMMAND or APPLE button appear where the ALT key appears on PC keyboards). Pressing the ENTER key will allow you to rename the given file! This is ridiculous! They have made it easier/faster to rename a file than to open/execute it. Silly. Very silly. Mac OSX > Windows In Mac OSX, you have Safari. In Windows, you have IE.

iPod Interface Made A Little Easier.

I noticed something about the iPod interface the other day: Normally, when zeroing on a song you go through the following submenus: Artist, Artist's Albums, and then Album Songs. Even if all the songs by an artist belonged to one album, you would still have to go through the Artist's Albums submenu. Now you don't. I didn't notice this on my nano, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have that feature as well.

    My New Band T-Shirt.

    My First About Paris Hilton.

Funny post about her lack of facial expressions...

    A Peculiarity (1 of many)

I hate being sticky. Once, when I was a kid, my parents and I (not sure if my brother was present) were sitting down for breakfast. My parents were talking amongst themselves when I began to start whining and waving my arms. They asked me what was wrong...(here come's the punchline)...and I pointed to my mouth, which had a ring of milk encompassing. It hasn't gotten any better since then. I have been able to remain calm in most sticky situations ("sticky" is being used litterly here) since then, but it is still a crutch: if one of my hands becomes sticky, it is rendered useless. I will literally hold my hand away from my body (palm upright) until I find something wet to wipe it with. This can be very entertaining for those around me.

    How Popular Is Your Name?

You can discover the relationship between the popularity of your name and time HERE.

    A MacCast Prize.

The MacCast was the first podcast I ever subscribed too. It had its 100th show, and to celebrate, Adam Christianson (THE HOST) held a prize draw: the grand prize was a 4GB nano (same one I have on eBay) with "MacCast 100" engraved on it. To be part of the draw you had to send a postcard to Adam. I did. I got an email a few days ago from Adam letting me know that I had won a prize: A serial code for a software program called Catalog (from Neometric Software). It's a nice looking program with a Mac themed design. From what I can tell, it is a way for me to catalog all my back-up data which may be stored on CDs DVDs or portable USB drives. I will probably never use it, but it's nice to win. SUBSCRIBE TO THE MACCAST

    An aPathetic Way 2B

You can stream Relient K's new EP, "Apathetic EP", right HERE. A few new songs on it, and some acoustic versions of old songs. I could care less about acoustic versions of upbeat pop-punk songs, but the new songs (and the cool album art) are very enticing. And, considering I claim that Relient K is my favourite band, I'm pretty much destined to pick a copy of this up.

    My Apple Watch

Sorry for the sudden rush of apple-related blogs. Here's an image of the apple watch I bought off eBay. This is not an official Apple watch by any means, but I really like the classic Apple logo.

    Zoophilia; Specifically, Dolphins.

Kaylee and I stumbled upon this website one day... Here's a snipet: "Q3) What do I do if a dolphin wants to mate with me? A3) Accept, if possible! I will go through the steps involved with males and females..." If you can find me pictures of such an act, please post a link in the comments...

    My New iPod

Expect to see more blogs with this title in the future. I just got my new "video iPod" (5th Generation iPod) last friday. It's very awsome. It looks more like a larger nano than a thinner 4G iPod, mostly because of the vibrant colour ("color" for those south of the border) and loss of "roundness". It's very nice, a lot thinner than my brother's (I sold it to him) 4G 20GB iPod. The big screen makes scrolling through songs/pictures/videos/menus much nicer; I espeically like being able to fill up my Main Menu with more options and not having to scroll down to view them all. The video capabilites are very nice, though converting my video files to an iPod-acceptable format is tedious. I also bought an AV cable to output my videos onto a TV; Kaylee (THE GF) and I have watched The Office and Home Movies a few times on the TV at her new place; it works very well. I'm going to try to write a review of it and put it up on the empty "review" section of my website. MARK: A (it doesn't get an A+ because of the battery life: 14hr music playback, 2-3hr video playback)

    Nano On Ebay.

As the title suggests, my Nano has been put up on Ebay as I no longer need it; I own a 30GB White iPod (5th generation). I will post pictures of my new iPod in my next post. I'm going to try to review it aswell, though I'm well aware that the only traffic I get on my site is my GF.

    We Are Apple!

"Here’s a little gem guaranteed to make even the biggest Apple fanatic consider buying a Dell. In the early 80’s, Apple used this song as its theme song in some of its corporate meetings. With killer lyrics like “We are Apple! Leading the way! We are Apple! And we’re making a better today! What a feelin’! And we’ve only begun, in believin’ that tomorrow’s much brighter, ‘cause Apple is leading the way!” it’s only a matter of time before this gem shows up in the iTunes music store." - Macenstein.com LISTEN

    Neat iPod Trick

I discovered a very neat trick (or glitch) you can do with the new iPod (with video): If you play a video podcast (vidcast, vodcast, etc) from within the "Podcast" sub-menu, only the audio will play.
